Some of the hottest tickets around right now are to attend the smash hit Broadway musical “Hamilton.”
The Grammy Award-winning hip-hop style music has attracted a youthful fan base, and social media has ignited with efforts to score seats at a performance of the popular musical, with ticket prices reaching upwards of $1,000 dollars each.
Some Hillary Clinton supporters will be willing to pay even more to see the show at a special fundraiser event the Democratic front-runner will hold on July 12.
According to Variety, the Hillary Victory Fund rented out all 1,321 seats in the theater for a special matinee performance. General seats start at $2,700 and premium seat prices go up to $10,000. Supporters can be an “event chair” by putting up $100,000 for two premium seats, an after party with Hillary, and an invitation to the Democratic National Convention.
Clinton said she was “blown away” by the show. “It’s an incredible feat of storytelling about the fight for the heart and soul of our very nation,” she wrote in an email to supporters. “It’s a look at history that feels immediately relevant today. It’s a beautiful piece of art with empathy to spare.”
President Obama promoted the musical as “a civics lesson like we’ve never seen before, generating new and important conversations about who we are as a country and just what our American experiment is all about.”
This won’t be the first time the Broadway cast has raised money for Democrats. In November, the cast hosted a similar fundraiser for the Democratic Hope Fund with the president and Michelle Obama in attendance.
“Hamilton” creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda will reportedly get deeper into political advocacy once he’s finished with the show next month.
Miranda has publicly vowed to rally the Hispanic vote leading up to the November election, and according to the Daily Beast, the actor has met with leaders of several Latino advocacy organizations and has offered to help them take on Donald Trump in the coming months.
