FreedomWorks tour promotes discussion on economy

Obama’s failed policies and the harm they cause to the American public have prompted conservative non-profit FreedomWorks to coordinate a group of nationwide talks dubbed The Black and White Tour.

The tour, which features president and CEO of Freedomworks Matt Kibbe, promotes the message that “freedom is black and white.” The website bills the tour as an “honest and frank discussion about issues of race and the economy.” The speaking tour also features author and FreedomWorks Director of Outreach Deneen Borelli.

The two co-workers developed the plan after discussing their recently published books, “Blacklash: How Obama and the Left are Driving Americans to the Government Plantation” by Borelli and “Hostile Takeover: Resisting Centralized Government’s Stranglehold on America” by Kibbe. Tour topics include the bad economy, Obama’s war on fossil fuel, the rising cost of energy and transportation, reduced living standards and the importance of school choice, Borelli said.

“We have people who come out who want to be educated and want to learn about the policies — the progressive policies — that are harming our country, and they are especially harming the black community,” she remarked. Attendees get to hear about topics they normally might not have the time to study and learn talking points with which to educate others, Borelli added. Following each talk, audience members have the opportunity to get their questions answered during Q&A, as well as obtain signed copies of each book.

The first stop was at FreePAC Ohio on Sept. 15, with an event in Pittsburgh the following week. The Black and White Tour will also travel through Indiana, Arizona, Florida, Utah, Georgia and Virginia and will make two more FreePAC stops. Reaction has been good so far, according to Borelli, and the audience has been diverse. “The tour is open to people of all ages, all backgrounds,” she said. “We’re inviting everyone to come and take part in the conversation. We really think that this will be a successful event that we’re taking across the country, and we’re looking forward to meeting people who attend.”

Tour date information is available on their website, www.blackandwhitetour.org.
