President Barack Obama sat down for a 60 Minutes interview Sunday night. The interview had a focus on Obama’s presidency winding down. And that’s also what’s getting a bulk of the attention.
In an unaired clip, Obama discusses what he believes is an improved job performance with interviewer Steve Kroft:
In a part of the interview which did air, Kroft asked Obama if how he feels about not being able to run again:
Of course it’s not merely about “a fresh perspective, new personnel and new ideas and a new conversation with the American people…” George Washington set a precedent to only serve two terms, but the Constitution has prohibited more than that since 1951.
If he were able to run again though, Obama does think he would get re-elected:
President Barack Obama: Yes.
Steve Kroft: You do.
President Barack Obama: I do.
Many Americans have been disapproving of the president’s job performance, however. It’s also worth noting that a Quinnipiac poll from July 2014 ranked him as the worst post-World War II president. Even more telling is how the results also showed that a plurality believed that the country would be better off under Mitt Romney.
Obama may be confident in his abilities, but he’s certainly more so than the American people are.
