Boehner showed some serious attitude in Texas last week, according to a report from The New York Times.
While speaking to 40 guests at a private fundraiser in Midland, the Republican congressman and speaker of the House allegedly showed his middle finger to the crowd when asked a question about Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.).
From The Times:
Though guests may have interpreted the finger to be directed jokingly toward Mechler — “My understanding was, he was not giving the middle finger to Senator Cruz,” Cubriel insisted — it wouldn’t be completely out-of-the-blue for Boehner to gesture meanly toward Cruz.
After all, the Texas senator has been a prime force in the conservative wing of the party’s effort to shove Boehner further to the right.
Nevertheless, Boehner aide Kara Hauck echoed Cubriel’s belief, claiming that the finger was indeed given to Mechler as a crude joke for asking the question.
“Having grown up in a bar, it should be no surprise that the speaker likes to deliver jokes, some in more colorful ways than others,” Hauck explained.
Wow — they should call him Ballsy Boehner.
