Rush Limbaugh: Now On Twitter

Everyone’s favorite conservative provocateur is now on Twitter.

Rush announced on his show this afternoon that he was venturing into the Twitterverse:

“Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve got something somewhat curious and important I want to tell you.  Over the years I’ve said I don’t tweet, don’t Twitter, and so forth and so on.  But I have an account. It’s there. I wanted to establish the account in my name.  There are a bunch of fake Rush Limbaugh Twitter accounts.  But I’ve decided to actually activate it now.”

Rush is still basking in the Sandra Fluke debacle and has decided to take to Twitter to mobilize his army. I’m not entirely sure what an Army of Dittoheads is supposed to do, but I imagine it involves tweeting at Media Matters for America.

Rush is no stranger to controversy. In the past he’s been criticized for mocking Michael J. Fox‘s Parkinson disease symptoms,  for creating the “Obama the Magic Negro” parody and for calling veterans speaking out against the Iraq War “phony soldiers”.

If Limbaugh had Twitter back then, who knows what kinds of tweets we all would have been treated to.

Amidst all the controversy surrounding Rush and his sometimes ill though out statements, it will be interesting to see what kind of tweets come out of his account.
