Shaun King: Trump is like ‘Hitler,’ ‘Stalin’ winning TIME Person of the Year

Liberal hack and race baiter Shaun King is using his social media platform to rain on President-elect Donald Trump’s parade.

After Time Magazine named Trump Person of the Year, King, who must’ve just read the timeless children’s classic, “Everyone I Don’t Like is Hitler,” took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the magazine’s recognition of the President-elect.

TIME editor-in-chief Nancy Gibbs explained that each year the magazine chooses “the individual who has had the most influence on events for better or worse.”

German dictator Adolf Hitler was chosen in 1938 mainly for Germany’s unification with Austria and the pact he had signed with British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain to acquire the Sudetenland (German areas of then-Czechoslovakia).

Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin was recognized twice. In 1939, Stalin was selected for agreeing to a neutrality pact with Germany while both the Nazis and Soviets invaded Poland. In 1942, Stalin was honored for his role as PM overseeing the victory over Nazi Germany in the Battle of Stalingrad.

Russian President Vladimir Putin won the award in 2007 for turning his nation around years after the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the superpower USSR. In the 2007 article, TIME specifically mentions the “Person of the Year is not and never has been an honor. It is not an endorsement. It is not a popularity contest. At its best, it is a clear-eyed recognition of the world as it is and of the most powerful individuals and forces shaping that world—for better or for worse. It is ultimately about leadership—bold, earth-changing leadership.”

“Bold, earth-changing leadership” should not automatically paint a picture of Hitler in anyone’s mind. Gandhi was selected in 1930 for organizing the Salt March.

Harry Truman was Person of the Year in 1945 for authorizing the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, effectively ending World War II.

Why isn’t King screaming about human rights violations committed by Truman? Up to 246,000 Japanese soldiers and civilians were killed in those explosions.

British Prime Minister Winston Churchill won twice, first in 1940, for his leadership during the Air Raids, and as Time’s Person of the Half-Century in 1949.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was selected in 1963 for what else, his March on Washington.

Every single president since Franklin Roosevelt has been selected by the publication.

American soldiers were chosen in 1950 during the Korean War and 2003 during the Iraq War. Even inanimate objects like “The Computer” were picked in 1982. Heck once, Time chose us, yes, “We, The People,” for contributing every last bit of online content in 2006.

Just imagine if Ann Coulter threw Barack Obama (2008 and 2012 Time winner) in with Hitler, Stalin, and Putin at the time of his election? Shaun King would be, as so many Twitter trolls have said before, literally shaking.
