[WATCH] Macklemore touts freedom of owning an ACLU card in odd video

Ever wanted to call the President a d**k on the Internet? Get the ACLU card!

Macklemore, the rapper best known for his hit single “Thrift Shop,” stars in a new American Civil Liberties Union fundraising video that lets viewers know just how free they can be with one of the organization’s cards.

“I’m a rapper,” he says in the video. “I’ve got a lot of things to do during the day. So something like being beaten by a club, pepper sprayed and tased for expressing my political views would really slow me down.”

To combat the threat of being ‘slowed down’ like that, the rapper carries an ACLU card — which he says lets his gay friends get married and allows women to do what they want with their bodies.

“The card that lets me call the President a d**k on the Internet if I wanted to,” he added. “And I don’t want to, but I could.”

The video provides a link to where viewers can get the card — as well as a “cool, limited edition t-shirt” — for the cost of a $35 membership. The shirts come emblazoned with phrases from Macklemore’s video. There’s also a link where people can enter to win two tickets to the rapper’s concert in Seattle on Dec. 12.
