Still alive? Sanders delegates plan “special meeting” before DNC

It’s not over ’til it’s over, and Bernie Sanders’ political revolution is still alive.

Although the theme of next week’s Democratic National Convention is ‘unity,’ thousands of Sanders supporters plan to descend on Philadelphia to protest and Bernie delegates are gearing up for a fight.

The Sanders campaign emailed delegates on Wednesday about a “very special meeting with Bernie himself,” which will take place right before the start of the DNC.

According to the Associated Press, the closed-door meeting on Monday will follow a series of briefings by campaign staff on Sanders’ top issues and another meeting instructing delegates how they can “keep the political revolution going strong.”

Sanders still has almost 1,900 delegates, many of whom are deeply unsatisfied with a Clinton nomination.

And despite his endorsement of Hillary Clinton last week, Sanders has clearly not given up on influencing the race.

According to a report from NBC News, “Sanders did not formally suspend his campaign, for procedural reasons related to the upcoming Democratic National Convention.”

In the weeks leading up to the convention, Sanders and his delegates have been pushing for more progressive policies to be included in the Democratic Party platform, and it looks like they’re aiming for more concessions from Clinton and the Democrats.

An organizer from the Bernie Delegates Network told the AP that the delegates are ready to protest or walk out of the convention if they feel that their views aren’t being acknowledged.
