Martin O’Malley jabs at Hillary Clinton on immigration

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley dealt a jab to foe Hillary Clinton during a Q&A interview with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Wednesday.

While not mentioning Clinton by name, O’Malley stressed that the best method of determining how a politician will act on immigration reform is by referring to their actions of the past.

Though Hillary vowed to push ahead on comprehensive immigration reform last month, the former secretary of state’s previous actions have indicated less support for immigrants to the United States.

For example, Clinton last summer argued that the illegal immigrant children pushing through the U.S. border should be sent home.

“There are a number of us now in the Democratic race for president,” O’Malley explained Wednesday when quizzed on the topic of immigration. “I am the only one with 15 years of executive experience. And one of the greatest indicators of a person’s future actions will be how they acted in the past when they had the power.”

The former Maryland governor insisted that he would tackle immigration reform in the first 100 days in office should he be elected president in 2016.

“I would absolutely do everything in my power,” O’Malley insisted.
