VIDEO: DCers blame Bush for the ongoing government shutdown

Who’s more responsible for the ongoing government shutdown? Current President Barack Obama or former President  George W. Bush – who has been out of office for nearly five years?

The Media Research Center’s Dan Joseph hit the streets of liberal Washington, D.C. to see how unwilling Obama supporters are to blame him for the political gridlock in Washington that led to a government shutdown two weeks ago. The results were grim. Joseph found that more people blamed Bush for the shutdown than Obama.

“Why former President Bush?” Joseph asks one young man. “Because Obama, he just got here,” the guy replies.

In reality, the shutdown couldn’t possibly be Bush’s fault. Congress has successfully come to agreements to fund the government several times since Bush left office nearly a half decade ago.

Although Joseph’s video only shows a slim selection of DCers, it still puts a spotlight on the tendency for Obama supporters to blame anyone but the current President for the nation’s problems.  At this rate, it  wouldn’t be surprising if two years from now they were still blaming President Bush for Obama’s entire failed presidency.
