Bernie Sanders, already popular with millennial voters, got up close and personal with a group of high school students heading to prom on Saturday in Kentucky.
Sanders passed the group walking into a campaign meeting and stopped to pose for a picture with the young couples from John Hardin High School. One asked, “Sanders, do you remember your first prom?” He sheepishly replied, “poorly.”
Things got even more awkward when the person filming the video asked the group whether they supported the Vermont senator’s White House bid. After a pause and some nervous laughter a few of the young students smiled and nodded.
Seth Meyers found humor in Sanders’ encounter with the young teenagers. “He looks like the bad guy in a prom movie on The Disney Channel,” he commented on Late Night.
Even with the evident divide currently happening in the Democratic Party, Bernie continues to campaign fervently. If posing for prom pictures with teens will raise his poll ratings, so be it! Looks as if these high school students are feeling the Bern, at least for the moment.
