There’s a puppy snatcher in Florida — and he orchestrated the nab by stashing the little dogs in his pants!
Surveillance video from The Puppy Stop, a pet store in Orlando, shows a man stuffing a $800 pug in his trousers on Saturday, as local news station WKMG reported. He then exited the store, put the dog in his car and re-entered the shop to repeat his puppy pilfer, this time taking a $750 miniature dachshund.
Charles Glatz, listed as the company president by the Better Business Bureau, told WFTV that he was surprised to see the security tape footage of the canine caper.
“It was shocking that I was standing 3 feet away writing up a sale and didn’t see it,” he told the news station.
But the 14 surveillance cameras in the store captured good footage of the thief, and Glatz is offering a $250 reward for information leading to an arrest. The footage also showed that the man was accompanied by another man, a woman and a small child.
Employee Eddie Rosario couldn’t believe the thief had brought a child into the store during the crime.
“They used a kid to steal the dog,” he told WKMG. “I mean, you come here to steal a dog with a kid, that’s insane.”
The recent puppy thefts are not the first, however. Back in 2011, a man nabbed two puppies and ran out of the store, WFTV also reported.
The Casselberry location of The Puppy Stop was also involved in a dispute in late 2012 over the death of a puppy just five days after purchase, WFTV reported at the time. The business currently has a B- from the BBB.
