Mitt Romney neglected to mention President Barack Obama’s policy disaster in Libya during Wednesday night’s first presidential debate.
Granted, the debate was supposed to be about domestic policy, but that didn’t stop Obama from mentioning his successes in beating down Al Qaeda and nabbing Osama Bin Laden.
Romney missed an awesome chance to nail Obama by pointing out the President’s failure to lead abroad and the deaths of many Americans as a result of the growing instability and tension in the Middle East.
It was an especially big error on Romney’s part given Wednesday’s news about Libya and the fact that the Bengzhai consulate has yet to be secured weeks after the attack on September 11.
The attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya is too big an issue to limit it to the foreign policy section of the alloted debate time. Romney needs to hammer that point home whenever and wherever he can if he wants the narrative to stick, especially since the foreign policy debate is weeks away.
It’s a great way to get a big long stutter out of Obama, and Romney would be remiss if he doesn’t take advantage of that opportunity whenever he can in the future.
