‘Teen Mom’ star makes the case for monogamy [VIDEO]

MTV isn’t known for promoting conservative messages — Jersey Shore, White People, and Laguna Beach — but one the networks reality stars is using his fame to promote monogamy.

Tyler Baltierra of Teen Mom was holding a viral question-and-answer interview with the show’s fans on Wednesday, when he was asked about if it’s hard not to cheat on his wife and fellow co-star Catelynn Lowell-Baltierra.

“You’re a very attractive man, but you also have a lot of personal integrity,” asked a fan named Lucy. “Is it hard to resist temptations that are presented to you as far as advances from other women.”

“It’s not hard for me to resist other advances by girls because, I mean yeah, you’re beautiful,” Tyler said in the response. ” I can give you that, you’re a beautiful girl. I appreciate, I’m very flattered, whatever — but the thing about it is I wish people would just understand the difference when you have a deep intimate connection with the soul.”

He addressed the comments about his wife’s weight, and how it angers him.

“We’re not all gonna look really good when we’re 75 or 80 years old,” he continued. “You guys are so fixated, society is so fixated on looks… it’s like if you don’t look good I’m not even going to get to know inside your soul and it’s really messed up.”

Tyler also addressed that most women who make advances on him are usually not someone he would want to pursue a relationship with.

“It’s not hard for me to resist because those women who make those advances on me or make these kinds of things on me are usually whores,” the reality star continued. “And you know you can’t turn a whore into a housewife, it’s kind of impossible. Cait’s attractive to me because she classy, she’s modest, and she holds herself well and she has dignity and self respect. That’s attractive to me.”

The two met in high school, came from dysfunctional families that were plagued drug abuse and multiple arrests, and Catelynn discovered she was pregnant during her senior year. The couple put their baby up for adoption, went back to school, had another child, and got married — in that order

Despite their personal struggles they have been together for over a decade.
