America’s youth desperately need to hear why conservatism works for them, and the authors of “YOUNG, CONSERVATIVE and Why It’s SMART to be like Us” hope to accomplish just that.
In the new e-book, released today, fourteen young authors come together to explain why being in favor of limited government and individual liberty is the smart choice for them.
Conservatism is commonly associated with angry, old, white men who rigidly adhere to the strict platform of the Grand Old Party, reminiscent of a bygone era. But more than a dozen twenty and thirty somethings with accomplished resumes and variety of interests have collaborated to put a new face on conservatism, and have written a book about why they ascribe to that philosophy. Their reasons are varied but the result is the same: conservatism is the smart choice for a young generation that desires prosperity, security and freedom.
“Young people want to hear how political issues affect them in their daily lives right now, not in the future,” said Liz Wheeler, the brains behind the adventurous project and a former Red Alert Politics contributor, said in an interview with Red Alert. “Our book illustrates how conservatism affects each of us in our daily lives, and I think that’s a great way to communicate to other young people how it affects them too.”
Wheeler credits the 2012 loss of the White House and the “poor communication of conservative values, particularly to the youth” as the catalyst for putting together this book.
“YOUNG, CONSERVATIVE” author Dina Fraioli agreed that it is important to communicate effectively with the younger generations about conservatism. “It’s important for the younger generation to educate themselves on conservatism; we’re not all stuffy old white men, or bible-thumping ‘fuddy-duddies;’ we’re folks who love our freedoms, love our liberty and darn it, we love America!” she told RAP.
Wheeler hopes the book “puts a face to real conservatism. Instead of listening to stereotypes on television or in pop culture, our stories illustrate in real life why young conservatives value our freedom and how a conservative government with limited powers protects our independence.”
From a GOP consultant to an IT employee to a stay-at-home mom, Wheeler sought a variety of voices to contribute chapters about about why conservatism is the wise choice for them. And from guns to God to the free market and capitalism, each author focuses on the different tenants of conservatism and why the conservative philosophy fits in with their lifestyle.
“I think it’s important for the younger generation to realize that not all conservatives came to conservatism from the same path; I know I didn’t!” Fraioli said.
The e-book can be purchased for $3.85 at Amazon.com.
