Standup comedy was known as the last refuge of total free speech. Want to make a joke about killing a family member? Okay. A dark sexual fantasy? Great. Mocking and criticizing a beloved celebrity? Absolutely fine.
Over the last few years, however, it’s become harder and harder to be a conservative comedian especially if you wanted to cross over and work in Hollywood.
Michael Loftus knows this reality all too well. Though he didn’t start out as a comedian who talked about conservative politics, he has branded himself as one of the few outspoken funny men on the right.

Loftus has written and produced for a number of successful TV shows including Kevin James’ show “Kevin Can Wait” and Charlie Sheen’s “Anger Management.” He discussed with Red Alert Politics about how difficult it can being a comedian on the right.
