NBC host Chuck Todd can’t get over the fact that the Clinton Foundation continues to accept foreign donations despite the mass amount of controversy surrounding the charity’s suspect contributions.
“This is where I shake my head and don’t understand why the Clintons continue to take foreign money,” Todd said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Wednesday.
While MSNBC host Mike Brzezinski waxed skeptical about the White House’s role in the foundation’s acceptance of donations from foreign sources during Hillary’s time as secretary of State, Todd insisted that most of the culpability lies on the shoulders of the Clintons.
“Clearly, the White House was concerned enough that they felt that they had to put something in writing,” Todd said. “Now, I agree with you. Let’s get it all out there. … But to me, this is a reminder [that] the White House knew this looked bad. Why on God’s earth is the Clinton Foundation … still taking foreign donations? It just boggles the mind.”
Scrutiny of the Clinton Foundation has grown particularly intense in recent weeks, as revelations from the forthcoming book “Clinton Cash” have emerged connecting Clinton Foundation donations to policies implemented by Hillary’s State Department.
The criticism has become so pervasive that the foundation has had to acknowledge its missteps and assure the public of its commitment to transparency.
