Liberal trolls have met their match in the conservative movement, as a Twitter protest against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was hijacked to promote him instead of bash him.
On Wednesday night, as the Senator spoke at a GOP fundraiser in New York City, a group of anti-gun New Yorkers started a protest against him online, launching the hashtag #YouCruzYouLose. The group was also scheduled to protest outside the event in person.
But the joke’s on them, as conservatives got wind of the scheme and RedState editor Erick Erickson launched his own counter-hashtag, #CruzToVictory.
At the end of the online protest, which was scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. EST, it seemed like the Senator was indeed going to #CruzToVictory. The hashtag was the top trending term in the U.S., and the number three term worldwide.
Nice try, liberals. Better luck next time!
