Ted Cruz to Harry Reid: Leave the Ritz-Carlton in D.C. and come to the border

After President Obama turned him down, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) invited Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) to join him at the border.  In response to Reid’s recent claim that the border is secure, Cruz said on Fox News Sunday that Reid’s perspective is skewed because he “lives in the Ritz-Carlton in Washington D.C.”

“I would invite Harry Reid to come with me down to Texas and see the border,” Cruz said. “On the border we are seeing the opposite of following the law. The border is not secured.”

Cruz also responded to Reid’s assertion that House Republicans who oppose Obama’s request for $3.7 billion in emergency funding have been holding migrant kids “ransom.”

“I’ll tell you who is holding these kids ransom,” Cruz said. “Harry Reid and the president, because their view is don’t do anything to fix the problem.” Cruz also blamed the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” bill for the current border crisis, because part of the bill seemed to promise amnesty.
