Veteran is forgotten, locked in a VA clinic for more than three hours

The Veterans Administration has yet another case to add to its long list of apologies. A Marine veteran was locked inside a clinic in Orange City, Fla., for more than three hours on Monday.

The staff simply forgot he was there, he said.

After waiting for so long in a consultation room, Jeffrey Duck left to investigate. He quickly noticed that he was alone in the building and took a video with his cell phone to record proof of the situation. While he was walking around, he set off the burglary alarm and called 9-1-1 on himself so that he wouldn’t be arrested.

Duck said that the people at the Orange City VA have become his friends over the years, so he isn’t mad at them. He is more disappointed in the way the VA is carrying itself when it is already under the national spotlight.

“I’m kind of disappointed; really disappointed,” Duck said, according to WKMG. “There’s a lot going on with the VA right now, they’re all over the news.”

Of course, the VA tried to make up for their mistake by treating Duck like a king during his next visit and issuing an apology along with a promise to fix the problem.

“We are looking at our closing procedures and will make changes to ensure that this does not happen again,” VA administrators said.
