Dinesh D’Souza, the conservative author behind the surprising box office hit “2016: Obama’s America,” is planning a follow-up to his 2012 documentary. The new film will posit that America is undergoing a terrifying transformation during President Barack Obama’s second term.
“Obama’s America” zeroed in on the president’s international background, analyzed what shaped his current — and often controversial — worldview, and speculated about what the country could look like if he was re-elected to a second term.
The documentary became the second-highest grossing political documentary of all time, behind Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11.”
Since Obama beat out GOP challenger Mitt Romney to win a second term last November, D’Souza is teaming up with the producers of “Obama’s America” to create a documentary about how “we are all living in Obama’s America now.”
“We are now living in the America that we warned our fellow citizens could come to pass if President Obama were re-elected,” D’Souza said in a statement. “Like it or not America is now the nation that Barack Obama Junior and Senior dreamed of creating.”
