Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid responded to news Friday of a House select committee on Benghazi by invoking the Koch brothers, marking the umpteenth time the Nevada Democrat has tied two wealthy donors the majority of America has never heard of into a broadside against Republicans.
“Republicans care more about defending billionaires like the Koch brothers and trying to rekindle debunked right-wing conspiracy theories than raising the minimum wage or ensuring women receive equal pay for equal work,” Reid said in a statement. He also described the committee as a “partisan political circus” and a “political food fight.”

Additionally, VegasInsider.com hadn’t placed odds on the next news item Reid would respond to with the words “Koch brothers,” though sources indicated that this weekend’s Kentucky Derby could open at 50-1.
The Weekly Standard’s Stephen F. Hayes reported Friday that House Speaker John Boehner was “seriously considering” a select committee on the Benghazi attack in light of emails that tied senior Obama officials to talking points misleadingly pinning the incident to an anti-Muslim video. Boehner confirmed that the House would vote to establish such a committee.
