Brace yourselves. The rednecks are about to descend on Washington, D.C in newest episode of “My Big Redneck Vacation,” and they’ve secured an interview with their congressman, Republican John Fleming (R-LA).
The Clampet’s came to the nation’s capital to have some fun and get involved in the political process but after being denied a meeting with President Barack Obama, jumped at the chance to meet with their congressman instead.
Congressman John Fleming (R-LA) was more than welcoming, entertaining the family’s discussion about some important pothole issues on Route 5 in Shreveport, LA.
According to Rep. Fleming’s spokesman Doug Sachtleben, the representative was excited to meet with them, as the Clampets bring “good attention to Louisiana.” Sacthleben told the Washington Examiner that Rep. Fleming “loves the opportunity to meet these folks and appreciates what they’re doing,” calling the meeting a “good experience.”
But their trip to D.C. wasn’t all business: every redneck adventure should include some beer.
Elsewhere in Washington, some members of the Clampet clan decided to participate in a nine pound burger-eating contest, while others decided to enter a beer-drinking contest.
Eating and drinking all those carbs call for some physical activity, so the Clampets enter a “cardboard regatta” competition. A “cardboard regatta” is an intense boat race in which the boats are made of cardboard. This competition certainly seems right up their hillbilly ally.
Washington D.C. is not the only exciting stop during their vacation- The Clampet family has already partied in South Beach and hung out with hippies in Gulfport, FL. After D.C., they will soon explore a different religion when they visit the largest Muslim population in the United States in Dearborn, MI. Doug and Wendy will also try to renew their vows in Las Vegas after which they’ll “load up the truck” and visit “Beverly. Hills, that is.”
Tom Arnold hosts this 13-episode season. This newest episode detailing their visit to D.C. airs at 9 p.m. (EST) February 9 on CMT.
