President Obama jokes that his wife is more popular than he is, but in reality, the First Lady is more trusted than the POTUS, according to a recent Reader’s Digest poll of the 100 most trusted people in America.
Even better, actor Tom Hanks is the most trusted of all.
The FLOTUS beat out her husband by ranking as the 19th most trusted person, with the President only taking the 65th spot.
The current commander-in-chief isn’t even the most trusted president on the list. Former President Jimmy Carter outranked the current POTUS at #24.
No other presidents made the cut, including both Bushes. Looks like former President George W. Bush needs to do more than unveil a new library to boost his popularuty.
Even former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, at #51, came out ahead of President Obama, despite the controversy surrounding her response to the attacks in Libya.
Other notable trusted politicos are former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright at #23, former Secretary of State Colin Powell at #32, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at #36, Supreme Court Justice Breyer at #43, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia at #66 and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at #68.
But while three Supreme Court Justices made the list, they were not actually the most trusted judges. Judge Judy, at #28, beat out all nine Supreme Court Justices as the most trusted judge in America.
But still the entertainment industry dominated the list, with Hanks taking the cake for the most trusted person in America. Actors Sandra Bullock and Denzel Washington took the second and third spots, respectively. But after his shining moment at the Republican National Convention last year, conservatives should still be thrilled to see that actor/director Clint Eastwood is the 13th most trusted American.
Author Maya Angelou took the fifth spot proving it was a smart strategy by the Obama campaign to have the famous writer send emails encouraging Americans to vote for Obama. She is, in fact, more trusted than the President himself.
However, the aforementioned results are somewhat misleading. Reader’s Digest decided to take out the “the real winners” from the list. The actual three highest scorers were “your own doctor,” “your own spiritual adviser,” and ” your own child’s current teacher.”
So, you can breathe easy knowing your fellow Americans trust people they actually know more than the faces they see on US Weekly.
