Boston University professor famous for anti-white tweets has a criminal past

Boston University’s newest college professor certainly knows how to make an entrance into a new job.

Saida Grundy, a newly hired BU assistant college professor of sociology and African American Studies, has become infamous for her anti-white tweets. But now it seems that Grundy also has a criminal past.

According to Boston.com, Grundy opened a fake profile on Fling.com, an adult dating website, back in 2007. The profile included pictures and details of a woman from Virginia who had been dating the same man as Grundy.

The Virginia woman discovered the account six months later and reported it to the police.

“This was a jealous thing regarding another man,” Grundy said in the police report.

Grundy received felony charges of identity theft and using the computer to commit a crime.

She ultimately pleaded guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge and was put on probation until June 2009.

“When this incident occurred I was 24 and exercised the poor judgment of a heartbroken 24-year-old. I took accountability then as I do now. I hold true to the lessons learned, and my life has since moved on,” Grundy told the news site.

Boston University is once again sticking by Grundy.

“A number of years ago, when she was a student at the University of Michigan, Dr. Grundy made a mistake,” Steve Burgay, BU’s senior vice president of external affairs, said to Boston.com.

“She admitted the mistake, accepted the consequences, and brought closure to that case. Eight years later, we do not see any reason to reopen it.”

Grundy is expected to begin teaching at BU in June.
