In New Orleans, Gov. Rick Perry thinks he’s in Florida

Poor Rick Perry. Over the weekend, the Texas Governor had a bit of a geography fail when he spoke to an audience at a conference in New Orleans.

“There are many other states that embrace those conservative values, the approach we’ve taken over the years. I’m in one today–Florida,” Perry said, according to the Dallas Morning News. “We’re in Louisiana,” an attendee at the RedState conservative blogger conference shouted back.

The paper’s Trail Blazers blog also reported a change in appearance for Perry. The retiring governor was sporting black horn-rimmed glasses and dress shoes. His back surgery has made him retire the cowboy boots for the time being.

This weekend’s gaffe is notable because Perry stumbled during his 2012 presidential bid, not being able to recall a third federal agency he would get rid of. “I would do away with the Education, the, uh, Commerce, and, let’s see–I can’t, the third one I can’t–Sorry. Oops,” he said during a debate.
