9-year-old boy sells lemonade to pay for his adoption

There’s an amazing lemonade story that broke on Monday — and it has nothing to do with Beyonce.

Fox 5 reported that 9-year-old Tristan Jacobson from Missouri opened up a lemonade stand to raise money for his own adoption, charging customers $1 per glass.

The young entrepreneur’s hard work paid off. His weekend yard sale raised $7,100 to assist with his adoption costs, and an additional $11,000 was raised from YouCaring.com once news of his story spread on social media.

Jacobson was born to a 15-year-old girl who had an affair with a married 31-year-old man. The father was later arrested on gun charges and sentenced to 22 years in jail. The young mother tragically fell into a life of prostitution and drugs and Jacobson suffered at the hands of multiple abusers. She later abandoned the young boy at a homeless center.

Fearing for the child’s well being, the 31-year-old father’s ex-wife Donnie Davis took Jacobson in and raised him as her own, but couldn’t afford to legally adopt him.

She was overwhelmed by the love, support, and donations that have poured in from all over the country.

“There’s not enough words to say ‘thank you’ to everyone,” Davis told Fox 5. “Tristan is already our son, in our hearts. But we want to make it official. He wants to have our last name. Actually, he has decided he wants to change his first name. And we are letting him. He has picked out the name of Quill Tristan Davis. He is so excited; he tries to tell his teachers to call him that now. He’s such an awesome kid.”
