Liberal colleges have failed their students, and it’s definitely showing after the death of Cuban communist dictator Fidel Castro.
In a new video from Campus Reform, students at American University prefer Castro over President-elect Donald Trump.
While there were a few students who acknowledged how oppressive Castro’s regime was in terms of violating human rights, imprisoning and murdering political dissidents, and sending gays and lesbians to concentration campus, there were others who felt the opposite.
“I mean, right now I don’t think Donald Trump is very good, and I know that Fidel Castro has done some good things for the world so I’d say he’s proven himself at least in the long term to be more favorable,” one student told reporter Amber Athey referring to Castro’s reforms for universal health care.
Another AU student went full Trudeau and used the Canadian prime minister’s words by claiming Castro was a “remarkable leader.”
“At this very moment, I have a better opinion of Fidel Castro,” said another reluctant student.
After the appointments of controversial figures like Stephen K. Bannon, Senator Jeff Sessions, and General Michael Flynn to Trump’s cabinet, one student believes that “if it’s anything like he said it will be, then I think that Fidel Castro will absolutely have been a better leader.”
It’s probably time for American University to reinvest in their history department and paint a less romanticizing picture of the late ruthless Cuban dictator.
