Crossroads releases humorous anti-Ashley Judd ad

If Kentuckians think actress Ashley Judd would be a independent voice for their state in the U.S. Senate, American Crossroads want them to think again. She’s actually an “Obama-following radical Hollywood liberal.”

The conservative super PAC released an advertisement highlighting Judd’s allegiance with President Obama, someone she herself described as “a brilliant man.”

The ad uses Judd’s own words to portray her as someone who supports Obamacare and considers herself “progressively and delightfully radical.” The video also notes that Judd considers Tennessee home and notes her references to “hillbillies.”

Crossroads chose to link the actress to Obama because, according to Public Policy Polling, Obama’s approval rating in Kentucky was only 38 precent in December, making Judd’s association with the POTUS a big turn-off for Kentuckians.

American Crossroads spokesman Jonathan Collegio told The Daily Caller that the ad will run for two weeks in the Bluegrass State and is costing the super PAC $10,000.

Judd has considered a possible congressional candidate since she mentioned the idea of running for Congress at the Democratic National Convention last fall. And while Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell doesn’t seem to be taking her too seriously, saying “we’ll worry about the election in 2014,” the decision to run the ad so far ahead of the election seems to signal that Crossroads considers her to be a contender.
