Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C) has requested all of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails and has announced that he wants her to testify twice during Benghazi hearings in light of recent revelations that Clinton used only a personal email account to conduct official business while at State.
The fiery Gowdy appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday morning to discuss with host Chuck Todd his requests and why he thinks it is necessary.
While Todd asked if Gowdy was only doing this because he believes Clinton is “lying,” Gowdy said it has more to do with proper conduct and public record.
“We don’t get to grade our own papers in life and she had a very unique relationship with herself as it relates to public records,” he said.
“It’s not just my interest in them. I have a very small subset of her documents, which would be Libya. But it’s the public record in general that I think she bears the burden of proving that all public records are in the public domain and that any discrepancies between personal and public that she resolved those discrepancies in a fair way.”
