The algorithm behind Google’s spam filter sorts incoming mail, but it recently made a political statement about Bernie Sanders.
That is, a Sanders email about his health care and college plan was labeled as a phishing scam.

His wording about affordable college, health care, and prescription drugs overlapped too closely with spammers’ email structures, according to The Washington Times.
“Be careful with this message. It contains content that’s typically used to steal personal information,” Gmail warned in a red box when a user opened the email.
The issue has been resolved by Gmail. The problem arose from a common tactic by scammers of promising something for free or offering cheap prescription drugs. The writing style for a campaign email could be too impersonal or vague could trigger a warning. With Sanders’ campaign promises of free college for all, universal health care, minimum wage hikes, and millions of new jobs, that might have been too much for Gmail.
