Just how many students at a Washington, D.C.-area college know the government shutdown has ended? The Media Research Center’s Dan Joseph set out to find out.
On Tuesday, Joseph went to George Mason University, located in northern Virginia, to ask students when they thought the government shutdown would end — even though it ended last Friday, Oct. 18.
About half of the students seemed aware that the government shutdown was over. But some of them were more than willing to give their estimates on when the government would reopen.
“I don’t know [when the shutdown will end], but I just wish it would be over soon, because it’s actually affected my loans to go here,” one girl lamented.
“Never,” another girl joked.
And some of the students were also willing to give their opinions on how the stalemate could be ended.
“Push their ignorance aside,” a female student ironically offered as a solution.
