Rasmussen: 6 percent of likely voters think Congress is doing a good job

A new Rasmussen poll demonstrates what little confidence Americans have in Congress — a mere 6 percent think the House and Senate are doing a good or excellent job.

The poll, released Wednesday morning, surveyed 1,000 likely voters, and the vast majority were less than thrilled with the work of the legislative branch. Sixty-four percent of those surveyed rated Congress’ performance as poor, and a sole 1 percent said Congress, by contrast, was doing an excellent job.

And this isn’t the first time Congress has been met with poor marks — the Senate and House of Representative’s performance has been failing in the eyes of the American people for the past several months. Only 8 percent believed Congress was doing a good or excellent job in both March and April, Rasmussen reported.

Since the 113th Congress took office in January, Americans have been hit with tax hikes, a stagnant unemployment rate and the sequestration. And with the House and Senate split, few substantial bills have passed.
