There has been much discussion about the role video games play in inciting crime, and here perhaps is an example of a video game inspiring rank idiocy with crime (pretty substantial crime) as a byproduct.
Early Saturday morning, Zachary Burgess, a freshman lacrosse player at Auburn University, reportedly tried stealing a vehicle parked in a bar’s lot while forcing a woman in the passenger’s seat to remain inside against her will, according to NBC33 television in Baton Rouge, La. Baton Rouge, the site of the crime, is also the home of Louisiana State University (LSU), where Auburn was visiting for a football game Saturday.
Fortunately for the woman, she “was able to jump out of the vehicle and get to safety,” according to a member of the Baton Rouge Police Department. Unfortunately for several vehicles blocking Burgess’ exit from the lot, he allegedly fancied that a monster truck rally was in order.
Burgess reportedly slammed into nine vehicles in an attempt to escape.
