Sandra Fluke is teaming up with Planned Parenthood to push for — you guessed it — birth control courtesy of Obamacare!
In an email to supporters of the organization, Fluke stated, “I’m proud to stand with Planned Parenthood and President Obama as we work to expand access to affordable birth control. And I’m proud to stand with millions of women and men — including you — who are fighting for women’s health every single day.”
According to Planned Parenthood, there are only eight weeks left for supporters of free birth control to urge lawmakers to include a no-copay birth control in the Affordable Care Act. But Fluke said confidently in her email, “We’re finally going to win this fight.”
In the email Fluke also complained about House Republicans refusing to let her testify before the Government Oversight and Reform Committee in February of last year.
“Who spoke in my place? A Catholic bishop and the president of East Texas Baptist University — along with eight other witnesses who all refused to acknowledge the reality that for millions of women, birth control is basic health care,” she said, clinging to her 15 minutes of fame from a year ago.
Fluke was actually given her shot to testify in front of the House Democratic Steering Committee, just a week after being denied by Congress the first time, FWIW. After Fluke testified, Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh called Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” on his show. He almost immediately apologized for “descending to their [the Left’s] level,” but Limbaugh’s comments helped give Fluke the national notoriety necessary to become a fixture of the Left.
Fluke is still complaining about these comments and said in her email that she “was smeared by pundits, shock jocks like Rush Limbaugh, and shameless political operatives who wanted me and the millions of women speaking out to just go away.”
Clearly, Fluke doesn’t see her success as so much of a ‘fluke,’ rather a calling, and will not be going away anytime soon.
