Hillary’s America: “Pantsuit Nation” hits the polls

There are undoubtedly millions of Americans voting for Hillary Clinton today because they feel like she’s their only option, but some of her more enthusiastic supporters — all the “nasty women” out there — are proudly rocking their candidate’s signature pantsuit to the polls.

A little over two weeks before Election Day, a “secret” Facebook group called “Pantsuit Nation” was created. The group is invitation-only – you need a Facebook friend to add you – and has more than 1.9 million members.

The group was started by 33-year-old Maine resident Libby Chamberlain after the first presidential debate. She wanted to celebrate Hillary’s iconic outfit as a symbol of women’s struggle for equality.

“It’s a symbol that might be lost on younger women, and so I wanted to do something to re-appropriate that symbol and everything that it means to me as a feminist and Clinton supporter,” Chamberlain told CNN.

On the group page, Hillary’s biggest fans share photos of themselves voting, suggestions on where to purchase a good pantsuit, and personal stories about why they’re “With Her.”

Pantsuit Nation is also a fundraising machine and has racked in more than $170,000 for the campaign in essentially one weekend, according to self-reported data the group shared with the Washington Post.

Even Beyonce joined the movement. The pop star and her background dancers suited up for a Clinton rally in Cleveland on Friday.

So, don’t be surprised if you see some pantsuits at your polling place today.
