Comedian offers to send Westboro Baptist Chruch to picket in Iraq instead of at Robin Williams’ funeral

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the neighborly Westboro Baptist Church announced that it would protest at the funeral of Robin Williams, who played a gay character in “The Birdcage.” While Americans have gotten pretty good at fighting the group — or at least trolling it — a foreign member of the fraternity, “The Last Leg’s” Adam Mills, has joined the cause, a veritable Lafayette coming to the aid of the colonials.

“If you really believe in standing up to those threatening the Christian way of life, Westboro Baptist Church, how about putting your money where your mouth is, taking a direct flight to Iraq, and picketing the people threatening to behead Christians if they don’t convert?” Mills, an Australian, said on Friday’s broadcast of the U.K. television programme. “Surely that’s more of a threat to Christianity than the guy who said, ‘Do you think God ever gets stoned? Look at a platypus — I think you’ll think he might.’ ”

Mills said he’d pay for the flights. And he bet that he’d be right about one thing.

In a Twitter response to WBC, Mills said he’s moving the plan forward this Friday.
