Biden tells Ford Motor Co. “Thank you for saving our a**”

America’s premier reality TV star kicked it into fifth gear Thursday with yet another quip for the quote book in Detroit.

Vice-President Joe Biden ran into Ford Motor Co. Executive Chairman Bill Ford, Jr. while roaming the North American International Auto Show in the Motor City during the morning. Biden had a typically colorful line for the auto exec as they talked:

“Thank you for saving our ass,” the vice-president said to Ford, Jr., per a pool report.

Ford was the only one of The Big Three U.S. automakers that did not receive a government bailout amid the 2008-10 auto crisis.

Besides talking shop, Biden was reported to have giddily toured the floor and checked out many makes and models. While getting a look at the Jeep Cherokee and Chrysler 200, he joked to the press corps to clear out, because “I am driving it off.” He evaluated and sat in some other sportier cars, as well, including Chevrolet’s new Corvette Z06.

“I’m like a kid in a candy shop,” the vice-president said.

See for yourself in this (soundless) Vine the White House released:

Biden owns a classic Corvette that he keeps at his Delaware home.

He is not, however, a Trans Am guy.
