Sarah Palin says Obama “writes the book on exploiting tragedy”

Former GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin criticized President Obama for politicizing the Sandy Hook shooting, saying the POTUS “writes the book on exploiting tragedy.”

Always the entertaining speaker, Palin fired up the audience on Friday at the National Rifle Association’s Leadership Forum in Houston, Texas. Wearing a “Women Hunt” t-shirt, she spoke about President Obama using the Newtown shooting to push his gun control agenda.

“Instead of leaders who offer real solutions, we have leaders who practice the politics of emotion,” she said. “Now, emotion is a good and a necessary thing, but we have politicians exploiting emotions for their own agenda.”

She called out Obama for using grieving parents as a backdrop for his gun control push. She stressed that emotion won’t protect anyone and that using it wasn’t a sign of good leadership.

“We could use a bit more emotion, by the way, of what goes on every single day on the streets of cities like Chicago and New York,” Palin added.

Palin also talked about New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s attempt to ban in-store displays of cigarettes. Following up her Big Gulp moment at the 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference, Palin pulled out a tin of tobacco during her speech, to the roars and laughter of the NRA crowd.

“I tell ya, don’t make me do it,” she joked, hitting the tin a couple times with her finger. “It’s funny because Todd’s been looking for this all morning.”
