Kanye West unloads on Jimmy Kimmel over spoof

Note to Jimmy Kimmel: do not spoof Kanye, lest you feel his wrath, 140 characters or fewer at a time.

Kimmel received an angry phone call from West on Thursday in response to a skit that aired this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the late-night host said in his Thursday monologue. The skit spoofed a BBC interview that West gave — in which he called himself the world’s biggest rock star, after saying rap was the new rock — and featured a child playing the part of the rapper. On Thursday’s show, Kimmel called the bit “pretty innocuous” yet explained that West was “very angry” about it.

“He told me I had two choices — one, apologize publicly … and that was really the only choice,” Kimmel joked, after explaining that choice number two technically was just a statement that Kimmel’s life would  be”much better” if he said sorry.

Around the same time of the phone call, Kimmel explained, West took to his Twitter page to bash the funnyman publicly. And oh, was it a spectacle.

That last one was a real burn.

Kimmel took the whole affair coolly, indicating that he wasn’t a fan of unintentional subtweets —

— and joking that he’d abandon Kanye online for good if the Twitter rant went any further.

Kimmel added in the monologue that the ordeal had at least fulfilled a dream of his.

“Finally, I’m in a rap feud. I always wanted to be in a rap feud,” he deadpanned.

Time will tell who gets the last tweet — though as of Friday afternoon at about 2:30, Kimmel was still at it.
