Reince Priebus: Hillary may decide not to run

Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus expressed skepticism about a potential presidential run for Hillary Clinton and cited her record as secretary of state as cause for why he believes she, ultimately, will not run for president.

“What I think is going to make her rethink whether she should actually run for president — by the way, I don’t actually think she will if she has another month like she just had — but the issues that I talked about are going to be the issues that make her unacceptable for the American people,” Priebus told NBC’s David Gregory in an interview Sunday on “Meet the Press.”

Gregory pressed Priebus about whether or not it was Republicans’ “mission” to persuade Clinton not to run for president. Though she hasn’t officially announced a White House run, many believe Clinton will make a go at the presidency again.

“She’s coming out with a book called ‘Hard Choices,’ or something like that. She’s made a series of bad choices,” he said. “…Benghazi shouldn’t be swept under the rug. Four diplomats had died. Boko Haram, these people have over 200 girls in Nigeria. The Syria issue. The Russia reset.”

The “Meet the Press” host also asked Priebus to address claims from Republican strategist Karl Rove, in which he said Clinton will have to answer questions about her health and specifically address concerns about a head injury she sustained in December 2012.

“I think that health and age are fair game,” Priebus said. “It was fair game for Ronald Reagan. It was fair game for John McCain.”

The RNC head, though, wouldn’t speculate on whether she is fit to serve as president, based on her injury.

“I’m not a doctor,” he said. “What I do know is that the issue is going to come up as it does for any person running for president.”
