Georgetown student charged with possessing toxin

WASHINGTON (AP) — Court documents show that a student at Georgetown University has been charged with possession of a biological toxin after ricin was found in a dorm room.

Nineteen-year-old Daniel Harry Milzman of Bethesda, Md. was arrested and charged with the federal offense on Friday, the documents show.

According to the documents, Milzman told a resident adviser that he had made ricin in his room.

On Tuesday, university officials were alerted to the presence of a suspicious substance in McCarthy Hall. The university’s police chief said Wednesday that the substance had tested positive for ricin, but there were no threats to the community.
