Samuel L. Jackson never has shied from lacing his rants with enough profanity to tie a size-20 boot, whether on screen or in his own shoes. The actor kept up that same crude tenor in a recent interview with Playboy, telling congressional Republicans to back down and President Barack Obama to stand up — and to stop dropping his ‘g’s.
Jackson told interviewer Stephen Rebello that he took exception to the President speaking in a ‘relatable’, folksy tone, belying his education and powerful position.
“Be a leader. Be f—–g presidential,” Jackson said. “Look, I grew up in a society where I could say ‘It ain’t’ or ‘What it be’ to my friends. But when I’m out presenting myself to the world as me, who graduated from college, who had family who cared about me, who has a well-read background, I f—–g conjugate.”
Jackson said that the President needs to be more ‘presidential’ in his approach to governing, as well — especially when dealing with the House and Senate GOP.
“He’s still a safe dude,” Jackson said of Obama. “But with those Republicans, we’re now in a situation where even if he said, ‘I want to give you … a raise,’ they’d go, ‘F— you! We don’t want a raise!’ I don’t know how we fix this … How do we fix the fact that politicians aren’t trying to serve the people, they’re just trying to serve their party and their closed ideals?”
The Academy Award-nominated actor has been involved in political and social causes for decades — and in a variety of capacities. He was a militant activist during the Civil Rights Movement, and as recent as the 2012 elections, he participated in an advertisement backing the Obama campaign, telling voters to ‘wake the f— up’ and vote for him.
As for 2016? He’s all about Hillary.
“If Hillary Clinton decides to run, she’s going to kick [the GOP’s] …” ‘posterior’, as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) might put it.
