Mass. gubernatorial candidate fights through kidney stone at debate

In what must have been one of the most painful debate performances in recent memory, a gubernatorial contender in Massachusetts fought through a kidney stone during a candidate forum Tuesday evening.

Via a campaign spokesperson, The Boston Globe reported that Democrat Steve Grossman, the state’s treasurer, experienced a “10” on the pain threshold scale as he fielded questions during a 90-minute event on LGBTQ issues. He was one of eight candidates participating.

The spokesperson mentioned that Grossman has endured chronic kidney stones for three decades. He passed the stone he suffered from Tuesday night sometime during an awards ceremony following the forum, the Globe reported.
