[PHOTO] Obama’s nerded-out selfie at the White House Student Film Festival

Science nerds, unite! President Barack Obama has once again found himself in the middle of an awesome presidential selfie, this time with two of the nation’s preeminent scientists – Bill Nye (“The Science Guy”) and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.

“What an honor. And we even pulled off ‘The Presidential Selfie’ (!!),” Nye wrote on Instagram

Both men were at the White House Friday as part of the first-annual White House Student Film Festival. The festival, which focused on the importance of technology in everyday life, showcased 16 of the more than 2,500 official entries received from students nationwide.

Attendees also saw a sneak peek of the new “Cosmos” TV series, hosted by Tyson and set to premiere on March 9.

“The Academy Awards are not until Sunday, but as you can see, we brought the Oscars to the White House a little bit early,” Obama told the student filmmakers. “We’ve got the red carpet, we’ve got the big screens, the opening monologue. The only difference is, nobody asks what you’re wearing.”

The scientists were later joined by “Harold and Kumar” actor Kal Penn for another selfie. Penn, who also starred on Fox’s “House, M.D.”, served as the associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement during the president’s first term.
