Fiscally conservative organization pens humorous “‘Twas the Night Before Cliff-mas” poem

With Christmas fast approaching, many Americans are caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. But one nonprofit is trying to ensure that Congress doesn’t forget about another important ‘holiday’ just around the corner: ‘Cliff-mas.’

Bankrupting America, a project of the fiscally conservative organization Public Notice, has released a humorous adaptation of the poem “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

This version, “‘Twas the Night Before Cliff-mas,” features President Obama and Congress instead of Santa and reindeer. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell all make cameo appearances as Congress argues over how to fix the fiscal problems.

The poem advocates for spending cuts and reform, instead of partisan arguing. Copies of the poem will be sent to Obama and members of Congress to “lift their spirits during the final weeks of negotiations and hopefully inspire some responsibility,” according to a press release.

Let’s hope it does just that and America can avoid Cliff-mas.
