An Alabama congressional hopeful is taking shots at the Affordable Care Act, literally, riddling a copy of the law with bullets from a variety of guns in a new campaign ad.
Will Brooke, a candidate running in the Republican primary for Alabama’s 6th Congressional district, shared the ad, titled “Let’s Do Some Damage,” with The Daily Caller on Wednesday.
“We’re down here to have a little fun today and talk about two serious subjects: the Second Amendment and see how much damage we can do to this copy of Obamacare,” Brooke says, referencing a thousand-plus page copy of the legislation.
The Republican jumps into his truck as the ad flashes to a bumper sticker reading, “I prefer the dangers of a limited government!” and heads to the woods.
Upon his arrival, Brooke unloads his copy of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and stuffs it into a wooden box, which he sets upright, and heads down range — accompanied by a bevy of firearms.
Brooke then sets his stance and proceeds to aim his pistol, first, at the law as bullets pierce it.
When the handgun, identified by The Daily Caller as a .40 glock doesn’t do quite the right amount of damage, the congressional candidate upgrades to a .270 Cooper rifle and, later, an AR-15.
Brooke, though, still isn’t satisfied, and takes the law — now riddled with bullet holes — to what he hopes will completely destroy the bill.
“Well, we had some fun and knocked some holes in it,” he says. “But we didn’t quite get the job done. Looks like we’ll have to resort to more extreme measures to get rid of Obamacare and replace it with a market-based solution.”
The extreme measure: A wood chipper.
Brooke runs the bill through the machine and claims victory as the law is ripped to shreds.
Six other Republicans, in addition to Brooke, are vying to fill to seat of retiring Rep. Spencer Bachus (R).
