SUNDAY 3pm
None of the GOP candidates are campaigning in Ohio today, which means I get a day
two work on other Red Alert business!
Tune in tomorrow morning at 8:30 am for live-blogging and live-tweeting from Romney’s events in Canton and Youngstown, Ohio.
SUNDAY 12 pm Bowling Green Lincoln Day Dinner
Read my article from last night’s Lincoln Day Dinner in Bowling Green.
“I looked around this room tonight and saw a bunch of people who were about to die,” said one BG College Republican.
SATURDAY 10:30pm
Scored an interview with 29-year-old Ohio Treasure of U.S. Senate Candidate Josh Mandel. Look for a Red Alert Exclusive in the near future.
SATURDAY 9:30pm
OH Senate candidate Josh Mandel says his website doesn’t start with www. It starts with “jobs.” Because the top 3 issues are jobs, jobs & jobs.
Mandel’s speech was better than Santorum’s, in my opinion.
OH Senate candidate Josh Mandel finishes speaking, OH Supreme Court candidate get up to speak – half the remaining attendees leave.
Audience should have stayed: OH Supreme Court candidate Sharon Kennedy was funny! On March 6 I want you to do something you’ve probably never done before – Vote for a Kennedy!
SATURDAY 9pm – Snowstorm
It happened in an instant. One minute the sky was clear, the road was dry, and the next a huge gust of wind and a blanket of snow covered the highway. As I let my foot off the gas to avoid hydroplaning on the snow, I saw a semi truck just in front of me in the right hand lane swerving uncontrollably on the road. Oh my God, Oh my God, I thought. It’s common knowledge you should never slam on your breaks when you are hydroplaning, but what should you do when you would otherwise run into a semi truck?
Before I had an opportunity to ponder the question further, I was suddenly spinning and skidding off the road into the guard rail. The semi went the other direction. I had narrowly averted death. I couldn’t believe it.
The car was not so lucky. Luckily it was still running and I was still able to make it to the Bowling Green Lincoln Day dinner. Because of the storm and the accident, I missed Santorum’s speech, but luckily a fellow reporter allowed me to use his tape recorder to play back the tape in another room and record it via computer.
To those in the center right community who never have anything nice to say about the mainstream media – not all MSM reporters are evil. Time and time again on the campaign trail I meet journalists on the campaign trail who know who I work for and what my values are and are still willing to lend a hand.
I’m not sure if the journo who let me off the hook and let me listen to the tape would want his identity printed, but he knows who he is and how grateful I am. God bless your!
SATURDAY 3pm – Cleveland Rally
Read my article about how Mitt Romney let his hair down last night at Cleveland State University.
Keep an eye out for live-tweets from Santorum and Gingrich’s events this evening in Lima and Bowling Green.
SATURDAY 10am – Random Thoughts
The room at the guest house I am staying at has a Keurig!! Oh, the small things.
FRIDAY 10:30pm CHRIS CHRISTIE
Friend at the Romney event at Cleveland State University last night tells me the only reason he came was because the campaign said New Jersey Governor Chris Christie would be speaking. (Governor Christie had to cancel at the last-minute because of the storms wreaking havoc on the Midwest).
Not going to lie – I went out of my way to go to this specific Mitt rally because I thought Christie would be there too.
FRIDAY 7:30 pm Cleveland ROCKS!
Best lines of Romney’s Cleveland State University speech:
My personal favorite:
A fan favorite (the crowd shouted MITT MITT MITT MITT! afterward):
On President Obama’s approach to the economy:
I believe the last sentence of this is correct, but I couldn’t hear him correctly over the screams of glee from the crowd – even after I listened to the recorded version!
Another fan favorite:
And finally:
