Jon Stewart: Democrat fundraising e-mails desperate and embarrassing

Liberal comedian Jon Stewart skewered members of the Democratic party Monday night on “The Daily Show” for their hypocritical condemnation of money’s influence on politics and their desperate fundraising attempts ahead of the midterm elections.

In particular, Stewart poked fun at Democrats like Secretary of State John Kerry, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and even President Obama for expressing their “outrage” at money’s political weight while simultaneously belonging to a party spending billions on the midterm elections.

In fact, liberal groups have outspend their conservative counterparts in the Senate races at which the greatest amount of cash has been flung.

“Here’s a tip,” Stewart said, directing his comments to Democrats. “It may undercut your message when you’re condemning a thing that you have clearly mastered.”

Stewart also took aim at Obama specifically, calling him out for attending his 53rd fundraiser of the year at actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s house in Los Angeles. Obama also spent some time last week at a fundraising event hosted by Rich Richman in Greenwich, Connecticut.

“It may not be the best way to send a message about your contempt for money in politics with back-to-back fundraisers from the homes of Lady Goop and literally a man named Richy Rich,” fumed Stewart.

The comedian also complained of the fundraising e-mails from the Democratic party that reek of “frequency and desperation.”

He specifically highlighted an e-mail sent from “President Obama” entitled “We Keep Emailing,” another from “Nancy Pelosi that read, “We’ve Got Nothing Left,” and one that ridiculously whined, “We’re Done. Go Home. Give Up.”

“These e-mails are just embarrassing at this point,” said Stewart.
