Does House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) have a Trivia Crack addiction like the rest of us?
Boehner’s office published a blog post on his website Monday that uses Trivia Crack to spotlight the next potential step in Congress’ effort to fund the Department of Homeland Security.
“What tool has Congress used, since its very founding, to resolve differences between House and Senate-passed bills?” reads the post, echoing the question format of the newly popular game that challenges users to compete in trivia competitions with one another on one of four different platforms, including smartphones.
The answer, it appears, is a conference committee, which is an option currently on the table as the House and Senate attempt to sidestep their differences and pass legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security.
“Later today, the Senate will vote on legislation to create a conference committee on the House and Senate-passed bills to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS),” the post details. “It’s not only a fundamental part of the legislative process, but another opportunity for Senate Democrats who say they oppose the president’s unilateral action on immigration to back those words with action.”
House Republicans have already voted to go to conference, and Speaker Boehner himself has emphasized the need for Senate Democrats to do the same.
Of course, the drama surrounding DHS funding legislation has much to do with Republicans’ effort to use it to stop the president’s executive action on immigration.
“Will Senate Democrats stand with the American people and [block the president’s executive overreach]?” the blog post wonders at the end. “Or will they continue protecting the president?”
Perhaps after Monday, that will be a new question on Trivia Crack.
